Contradictions and the Savage Truth

A former president was branded a fascist, even though he consistently showed remarkable leniency toward his fiercest enemies, except perhaps for one notoriously corrupt media network with long-standing tax issues. These very adversaries spread lies about him relentlessly, even exporting their deceptions onto the international stage. And yet, in today’s twisted political theater, someone who is not even the president has arrogantly assumed the power to suspend a network franchise and detain TV program anchors, simply for daring to ask a critical question about how congressmen squander public funds on so-called “legislative travel,” which in truth often amounts to nothing more than taxpayer-funded leisure.

What’s worse is that this weak and underwhelming tyrant is being celebrated as a “good leader.” His supporters, blind in their devotion, actually praise this brazen abuse of power. But what kind of loyalty is this? True loyalty should be grounded in principles and self-respect, not in servility. Sadly, these supporters display none of that. They march like political zombies who seem mindless, obedient, and numb to reason. And what animates these zombies, what monsterizes them in the dark circus of politics? Money. It corrupts them, kills their sense of dignity, and resurrects them as grotesque caricatures of citizens, feeding on scraps of patronage.

Meanwhile, the ones who dare to stand with integrity, who choose to defend principles rather than personalities, are the ones demonized, vilified, and unjustly silenced. In this supposed age of enlightenment when information and truth are only a click away, when people of conscience are jailed, while those with literal blood on their hands are quietly ushered out of prison and back into society.

It is a cruel irony. I can almost feel the wound in the very back of our national pride - the deep, searing stab inflicted when we, as a people, entrusted power to the wrong hands. That pain lingers, excruciating, reminding us of the betrayal of our hopes and the tragic cost of a misguided vote.
