This book has just entered Public Domain, and we have acquired it for our library.  The Roman Hat Mystery, the very first Ellery Queen novel that started the legendary detective series. Published in 1929, this book introduced readers to the brilliant young sleuth Ellery Queen and his father, Inspector Richard Queen of the NYPD. Together, they tackle a puzzling murder in a crowded Broadway theater, where the only clue is a missing hat.

What I love about this book is how it captures the golden age of detective fiction: clever clues, sharp logic, and that satisfying “aha!” moment at the end. It’s a must-have for mystery lovers, especially those who enjoy Agatha Christie or the classic whodunit style.
